Decorated clay pipe finds of the Thames foreshore
The Thames foreshore is littered with clay tobacco pipes – and among them, many with enigmatic, eccentric, playful or beautiful designs. Germander Speedwell from Heritage Projects has been rescuing clay pipes from London’s foreshore since 2013 and has amassed a fascinating collection. She’ll reveal what can be found on the Thames foreshore and how these reflect London’s history and bringing a selection along to show to us.
